In 1993, when the infamous murders in Sathya Sai Baba’s bedroom had recently taken place, the Indian journal ‘The Week’ covered the news at length. The original pages are seen here (click to enlarge). It gives a good idea of what was considered reliable information at the time.

‘The Week’ held that it was NOT an attempt to kill Sai Baba. Though it was vehemently and constantly claimed by Sathya Sai’s brother, Janakiramiah, – who was instrumental in making the police execute in cold blood four devotee intruders – that it was an assassination attempt against Sathya Sai Baba, his view was rejected by his famous brother! One wonders how he could know thta – seeing that he claimed to know in advance what would happen… and one wonders why he therefore did nothing to stop the killings (claiming to be a pure example of non-violence, and seeing he had complete control of all his officials at the very least).
